From where you begin Course 3, follow the shoreline to the right until you reach some water. Once in the water, swim forward to the small piece of land with the Pink Bob-omb on it. Jump up onto the land, then jump onto the pillar and climb up to the Red Coin. Note: In order to reach the coin, you will either have to press Up on the Control Stick to perform a hand-stand, or simply jump up and touch the coin. Three are located on the deck of the Ship. To get the them, simply swim out to the floating board on the right side of the course, then jump up onto the piece of land with the Purple Exclamation Switch on it. Step on the switch to create some temporary blocks, which will fill the gaps on the docks next to the land, allow you to walk over to the deck of the Ship. Once on the deck, collect the Red Coin at the front of the Ship, then go to the rear of the ship and Double Jump up to the upper level. To reach the two Red Coins, wait for the Ship to rise, then walk into them, or simply jump up and touch them. Star 4 will appear on the deck of the Ship.

Course 13: The Piranha Flowers are located in Tiny-Huge Island - Star 1 objective. If you are tiny Mario, the five Piranha Flowers will appear next to the green pipe that is located to the left of where you begin the course.
If you walk around the pipe, a large Piranha Flower will pop up out of the ground. When this happens, punch or kick the flower once to defeat it. Defeat all five plants to earn a Star.
After defeating a Piranha Flower, collect the Yellow Coins to replenish your power meter
The Wiggler is an orange worm-like enemy with eight legs.
Course 13: Wiggler is located in Tiny-Huge Island - Star 6 objective. The Wiggler is located at the top of the mountain.
As soon as you enter the Wiggler's room, drop down onto the wire net floor, then jump on the Wiggler's head. Jump on its head two more times to earn a Star.
If you get low on power, collect the 10 Yellow Coins near the corners of the room
The Eel looks like a giant pink sea-snake.

The Big Bird looks like a large vulture.
Course 8: Big Bird is located in Shifting Sand Land. The Big Bird appears in every Star objective of Course 8, but only plays a crucial role in the Star 1 objective. Since you cannot defeat the Big Bird, avoid it!
"Hold onto your cap!"
If the Big Bird steals your cap, you'll have to kick or punch it out of the sky to gain it back.

Purpose: The Wing Cap allows Mario to fly.
How to use: Jump into the Red Exclamation Blocks to make a Wing Cap appear, then Jump three times in a row to make Mario fly. The cap will only last for a few minutes, so make sure Mario isn't too high up when the cap wears off, or you may fall to your doom.
In order to use the Vanish Cap Power, you need to Stomp on the large Blue Exclamation Switch in the Vanish Cap Under the Moat Course.
Location: The Vanish Cap appears in several courses. Jump into the Blue Exclamation Blocks to reveal it.

Description: These are empty shiny-green turtle shells.
Location: The Shiny Shells appear throughout the game. You can collect these by jumping into some Yellow Exclamation Blocks, or by Stomping on a Koopa.
Purpose: If you jump on a Shiny Shell, you can ride it just about anywhere in a course. While on the shell, Mario will be completely invincible to enemies, lava, water, etc. Use the shell to explore the level and help locate hard-to-reach coins. If you run into a wall or try to enter a special area within a course (i.e., jumping inside the volcano in Course 7), the Shiny Shell will disappear. Note: In Course 3 and Course 9, there's a Shiny Shell inside a clam shell underwater. If you grab the shell--by pressing the B Button--you will be pulled behind the shell for 10 seconds.
Description: These are slowly spinning red transparent hearts.
Location: The Spinning Hearts are sometimes scattered throughout a course.
Purpose: If you run through a spinning Heart, Mario's power meter will replenish any lost energy. The faster you move through a Spinning Heart, the more energy you will replenish.
Description: These are small green and white mushrooms.
Location: 1-Up Mushrooms are scattered throughout every course. Most often, they are located when you jump into a Yellow Exclamation Block.
Purpose: For every 1-Up Mushroom you collect, you will earn one extra life for Mario.
Note: Most 1-Up Mushrooms will try to run away from you.
When Mario's face is above water, tilt the Control Stick towards you, then press the A Button. Since Mario can only jump so high, make sure he's next to something he can actually grab onto to get out of the water.
While standing anywhere in the Castle, pause your game, then press Up or Down on the Control Stick to scroll between the courses you've completed. Each course you've visited will be displayed with six Stars and the maximum amount of coins you've located in that course. A white Star indicates that you've found the Star, but a clear Star indicates you haven't. If you see any clear Stars, go to that course and complete the necessary Star objective. If a Star doesn't appear next to the coin total, then you either haven't collected 100 coins in that course or you forgot to collect the seventh Star when you did. The pause screen will also indicate how many Castle Secret Stars you've located. There's a total of 15 Secret Stars. The most commonly missed one is in the Princess's Secret Slide. Don't be fooled if you only found one Star in this course, because there's actually two.
If you collect 120 Stars, a Cannon hole will appear in the Castle's front yard by the lake. If you step into the Cannon, you can shoot yourself to the rooftop of the Castle. Once on top of the Castle, you can locate your old buddy Yoshi. Speak to Yoshi and he'll give you 100 1-Up Mushrooms (maximum).
The sign on the wall reads, "It is decreed that one shall pound the pillars." If you Stomp on each pillar, you will drain the water out of the room, which reveals a door that leads to the moat that surrounds the Castle. Go through the door, then follow the path to the right and jump in the hole to locate the Vanish Cap Course.
This door is more of an exit than an entrance. To get to the other side of this door, turn around and explore the cellars until you locate a door that leads you to a room with two pillars surrounded by water. Enter the door near the two pillars to come out of the door next to the transparent blue wall. Note: If you run under the wall, then jump in the air, you can Dive to the door behind the blue wall. This may take some practice.
In order to reach the top of the endless stairs, you will need 70 Stars. The sign next to the Big Star Door reads, "To open the door that leads to the 'endless' stairs, you need 70 Stars. Bwa ha ha!" This sign is somewhat misleading, because you can open the Big Star Door if you have less than 70 Stars, but the stairs will never end--hence the name, "endless stairs."
At the beginning of the game, there's not much you can do, except read all the signs for some good hints. After you collect at least 14 Stars, the courtyard will fill up with Boo-Buddies. Defeat the Big Boo-Buddy to locate the entrance to Course 5: Big Boo's Haunt.
You cannot enter the door if there's still water in the moat. In order to drain the moat, you need to have found the Big Key. Use the key to unlock the door to the Castle's basement, then explore the sewers for a room that is filled with water and has two pillars in it. If you Stomp on each pillar, you will drain the water out of the room, which reveals a door that leads to the moat that surrounds the Castle. Once the water has been drained from the moat, go through the door, then follow the path to the right and jump in the hole to locate the Vanish Cap Course.
After locating 120 Stars, the grate will disappear and reveal a Cannon hole. If you step into the Cannon, you can shoot yourself to the rooftop of the Castle. Once on top of the Castle, you can locate your old buddy Yoshi. Speak to Yoshi and he'll give you 100 1-Up Mushrooms.

There are only three places that you can lose your cap. Fortunately, you can always re-enter the course you lost the cap in and get it back.
If the Big Bird gets too close, it will take Mario's cap. In order to get it back, you must jump into the bird as it flies by. If you exit the course without the cap, you can always re-enter later and get it back from the bird.
If the giant Snowman on the top of the mountain blows you off the side, you'll lose your cap. Search the area around the ice building to get it back. If you can't find it, re-enter the course, then walk around until you see a Spinning Snowman wearing it. Slowly walk around the Snowman until it fall over, then grab your cap.
If you get too close to the small cloud on the mountain, it will blow you and your cap of the side. To get your cap back, climb back up the mountain and take it from the monkey.
Note: When Mario is not wearing his cap, he takes more damage than usual.
